Finding Your Career as a MilSpouse

Being a part of a military family has its own unique set of challenges. Relocation is a common occurrence, and alongside it comes the need to adapt to new surroundings and create a new life, often every two to three years. This need for adaptation is true, especially for spouses of active-duty military personnel, who also have to find employment in an unfamiliar place. Traditional job search methods do not always work for military spouses, and it can be quite a daunting task to land a job. However, there is help available in the form of Military OneSource, with resources specifically curated to assist in securing employment for military spouses. (All links below open in new windows.)

If you are seeking job opportunities with employers interested in hiring military spouses, the Military Spouse Employment Partnership Job Search should be your first stop. Find thousands of job postings from hundreds of partner employers seeking qualified military spouse applicants. The MSEP Job Search is easy to use and enables you to find positions of interest in your current or new location.

Start Your Search

With the MSEP Job Search, you can do the following:

  • View hot jobs — job opportunities that need to be filled immediately — located across the United States and around the world.
  • Search for jobs using job titles, keywords and locations.
  • Refine your search by selecting industry, partner, job type and location radius.
  • Learn about featured MSEP companies and organizations or view and research all partners.
  • Register for or log in to your MySECO account to learn more about jobs of interest.

Create or update your MySECO profile

Your first step is to create or update your MySECO Profile. Enter your current profile data: contact information, work experience, education and job search location. Make sure to opt-in to the MSEP Candidate Search to allow MSEP recruiters to contact you with potential job opportunities.

You will be able to include up to five ZIP codes in your MySECO Profile, so MSEP recruiters searching for candidates in those locations will find your information when you opt-in to the MSEP Candidate Search.

Create your resume

The MySECO Resume Toolkit will help you make a great first impression with your resume. Be sure to review the sample resumes and cover letters on MySECO for ideas on how to make your resume shine. Use the MySECO Resume Builder to create and store multiple resumes.
